My wife Karlyn and I have been wanting to see the movie Risen really bad. Last night, Friday, we went to Redbox and rented it.
I felt like a kid going to the movies with my folks. Waited all day to watch it and just couldn’t wait to put in the DVD sit down with my tootsie pops and gummy drops and pop the corn for Karlyn and have a great time.
The moment arrives and the movie starts. As many may know the movie is a glimpse of events that happen through a Roman Centurion’s eyes post crucifixion. As the movie progresses I’m starting to think really? This is it. You see the movie spends a lot of time setting the stage concerning the 40 days that the Lord spent walking around Jerusalem showing Himself to the people and time He spent with the disciples. The movie highlights the Centurion’s frustration not being able to find The Lord’s body or locating Him at all.
At this point in the movie the soldier (Centurion) has a lead in a specific area. He and his men go into the town stealth, undercover and like all the times before no Jesus. All of a sudden the soldier looks to the top left at a balcony and sees Mary Magdalen who he interrogated days ago. He runs up the stairs, the tension is palatable, he draws his sword from its sheath pointing it towards the door opening and kicks open the door and to his utter shock and amazement he sees Yeshua, Jesus chatting and talking with the folks in the room. The soldier looks like he has just seen a ghost, the life is leaving his face as he starts to look pale, he stumbles backwards outside the front door. He staggers back into the room, sword hung down towards the floor, falls backward against the wall and slides slowly to the floor.
He watches and listens to Jesus as he softly talks and laughs with His friends. The soldier is caught in a time freeze where things move very slowly as the brain tries to process all the data that is being thrown at it, data that just doesn’t compute to our natural minds.
This moment in the movie was really moving because anyone who has had an encounter with Jesus The Messiah can relate to what this soldier was going through. Oh sure, we haven’t seen Jesus physically like he did, but anyone who has asked Jesus to be Their Lord and Savior has experienced some jolt to their system as The Lord opens their mind and heart to Him at that point of confession and repentance!
My Holy Spirit Jesus moment happened in the parking lot of a grocery store at 9 am PST. An event in time I will never forget! The enemy of our souls comes to me regularly and attempts to get me to doubt my salvation and he wants me to live in fear and condemnation. The Holy Spirit always reminds me about my encounter with Him, Jesus at age 10 and 18 in the parking lot of FedMart store in La Habra, CA USA IN 1975. The Lord marked in history the moment He came into my life and the very moment in time when I through faith accepted my Messiah Yeshua!
Just like the Centurion Roman Soldier had his moment, God was gracious to me and gave me my moment as well.
Allow me to encourage you. When Satan comes to you and he will, and tries to convince you that you’re not saved, remember back to your moment with God, that time he came into your life and gave you the free-gift of eternal life.
If you don’t have your moment with The Lord then ask Him into your life today! Read how below.
God bless you as you seek to serve Him and live out your faith!
Keep looking up because Jesus is coming back soon,

1 Chronicles 29:10 – Therefore David blessed the LORD before all the assembly; and David said: “Blessed are You, LORD God of Israel, our Father, forever and ever.
I was reading 1 Chronicles 29 today and verses 10-15 caught my attention and seemed to stand out.
I was thinking how thankful King David was and how expressive he was with his thanksgiving. This part of scripture is a commentary about a real person that lived over 3,000 years ago. He is a real King that had a kingdom in Israel and was full of excitement and thankfullness towards His God!
With a media blitz, the Islamic State has set its sights on Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula as the next shot at expanding its empire and establishing a base from which to attack neighboring Israel. READ THE HEADLINE HERE…
Do we know for sure that ISIS will attempt to invade Israel? Know one knows for sure except The Lord. The reason I say this is because it is theoretically possible that Turkey, Russia and Iran could destroy ISIS and thereby stop their advance towards the Jewish State.
Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Bro Stef Thoughts:
The word in this scripture that stands out to me is”rewarder.” The original word used is “renumerator.” The meaning is to calculate, add up, keep track of and giving rewards in keeping with his values. This word in Greek, misthapodotés, is only used in the Bible once and its in this scripture! We can thus make the assumption that God wants us to think this through very carefully.
There seems to be two prerequisites that must be observed for God to reward us:
1. Believe He is.
2. Seek Him with diligence.
